Tears For Fears: in uscita “Songs from the Big Chair” 40th Anniversary

Il 2025 vede l’uscita di Songs From The Big Chair dei Tears For Fears. L’album multiplatino, secondo disco del gruppo, originariamente pubblicato il 25 febbraio 1985, raggiunge in poco tempo una enorme popolarità a livello mondiale. Songs From The Big Chair ha scalato le classifiche statunitensi e generato cinque singoli di grandissimo successo: Mothers Talk, Shout, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Head Over Heels e I Believe, riuscendo a creare un perfetto mix di pop, melodia, energia e innovazione new-wave. Per celebrare il suo 40° anniversario, Universal pubblica una serie di edizioni speciali e limitate, tra cui il 2LP in vinile Transparent Red con artwork originale mai utilizzato e brani precedentemente non disponibili in vinile, l’edizione deluxe di 3 CD, un vinile azzurro trasparente e un picture disc.

L’influenza di questo album è stata talmente rilevante che ancora oggi riesce a conquistare nuovo pubblico. Il brano Everybody Wants To Rule The World è stato reinterpretato da Lorde per The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, ed è presente in diverse colonne sonore di film, tra cui: Guardiani della Galassia (così come in Guardiani della Galassia Cosmic Rewind), Cattivissimo Me 4 e The Lego Batman Movie. Formatisi a Bath nel 1981, i Tears For Fears, composti da Roland Orzabal (voce, chitarra, tastiere) e Curt Smith (voce, basso, tastiere), hanno venduto più di 30 milioni di album in tutto il mondo. Nel 2021 sono stati insigniti dell’Outstanding Song Collection Award agli Ivor Novello Awards. Oggi, la band continua a esibirsi in tutto il mondo, proseguendo al contempo un residency show a Las Vegas di grande successo.
